If you are traveling backpacker style and want to try something local, Las Mesitas is the place for you! With small plates for Q5, you can try it all and still stay on budget!
One of our favorite casual spots in Flores is El Sotano for tacos, gringas, burritos, and more! There are tasty and affordable options for meat lovers and vegetarians alike, and a buffet of extras you can add on top, like guacamole, salsa, and chilli. If you’re extra hungry, try a tortillon–it’s a giant flour tortilla filled to the brim with cheese, beans, veggies, and your choice of meat for only Q25, and it will leave you stuffed!
Casa De Enrico offers a French fusion menu with tasty options all day, including a breakfast omelette with bechamel sauce, ratatouille for dinner, and fresh homemade bread at every meal. Dinner price range is around Q60 per person, and the rooftop terrace at night is very romantic with soft tableside lighting and quirky-elegant decorative touches.
The recently opened Bamboo House brought Chinese food to Flores. You can order classic dishes like chop suey and chow mein, with big portions at affordable prices. If you’ve just come back from a long day at Tikal and can’t be bothered to leave your hotel room, they even offer free delivery!
Pretty much every restaurant will have some veggie-friendly options, so don’t worry! With that said, there are a couple that cater specifically to herbivores.
With a rooftop terrace overlooking the water that’s decorated with abundant plants and natural wood furniture, Maracuya is a beautiful little haven to enjoy a healthy meal. They offer a small menu that changes daily, with fresh ingredients and chef specials, plus a big selection of healthy juices and smoothies. Average dinner price is about Q60 per person.
Legumbres Mayas is a little more basic, but also more affordable and with a set menu. Try the ‘pizza,’ which is not like traditional pizza at all, but delicious nonetheless! It has a crust made of shredded potatoes and carrots (no gluten), piled high with stir-fried veggies, and topped with a generous layer of mozzarella.
